Shelley Thibeau, PhD, RN
Shelley Thibeau, PhD, RN, serves as the Manager of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Louisiana at Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since opening five years ago, the milk bank has grown to serve over 75% of the NICU beds, as well as Mother Baby units and Pediatric Intensive Care units across the state. In 2020, Shelley and the milk bank Medical Director, Dr. Harley Ginsberg, collaborated with Louisiana Department of Health to ensure equitable access to pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) by gaining Medicaid support of in-patient use of PDHM. In 2022, the milk bank supported state legislation to ensure in-patient and out-patient coverage of PDHM by Medicaid and commercial carriers. Shelley and Dr. Ginsberg continue to work on improving equitable access to PDHM by partnering with statewide community breastfeeding advocates.
